| His OBP is higher than it has been in any year other than 2008, when he had a lot better players around him than he does now, and it is higher than his career average. Sure hi power is down, so arfe most players these days. He's still a player that would walk into a job on any team in the league. |

| His power numbers aren't just down, they have steadily decreased for three straight years. We are talking a very, very quantifiable trend. No one will deny he's a solid hitter but an OBP of .378 with very average power and no speed doesn't get you a regular spot on a winning team. |

| Care to name a winning team he wouldn't be a starter on? He'd certainly be a starter for the Yankees, Rays and Redsox! |

See the O's are hiring Buck Showalter. Now, Buck was in his heyday long before i stumbled across the game, but my god, h is annoying on Baseball Tonight.
This is all presumptious from what i see on tv, but he comes across as a "know-it-all" who makes you know he knows more than you.I find him irritating, but that's just me.
His attitude maybe suit the Orioles, they definately need something, and i guess it cant get much worse for them |

I'm a child of the Tommy Boyd era of 5baseball so I don't know much about Showalters Yankees tenure but those DBacks were a veteran bunch.
Maybe his old-school ways endear him to the more mature player but he does seem an odd choice for such a youthful team. |

| Maybe a bit of old school is what they need. Any side that's 0-12 v the Blue Jays needs a kick up the backside. |

Gotta be fair, I like Buck. Can't stand Bobby V and, as for Kruk, anybody like him?
With regards to his new job, Good Luck Uncle Buck!!! |

I like Kruk, i like th epeople that have fun on the show. Kruk does, Showalter has to be the "teacher".
I also like it Steve Berthuiame the host, some of his nicknames and phrases are funny, some stupid, some damn right ridiculous, but its what makes the show watchable. |

Hate Kruk but like everyone else, i should hate Bobby V but really like him.
Regarding JPR, i find myself struggling to listen to what he actually says as im too busy thinking what sort of wierd Sci-fi character he looks like. |

Adam21 - 'Showalter has to be the "teacher"'.
He's gotta be a teacher. It's in his surname - Show, Alter (I'll get me coat)
To me, Kruk is like the Pantomine Dame, there for laughs, but is not funny. |

Haha.
I do find Buck really patronising and jus tlike he feels he's better than the viewer when he talks. |

| good to see the O's playing some good baseball, Showalter certainly seems to be having some early success. We'll see if he can keep it up. |

| I am not sure beating the Indians counts as success, but fair play to Buck. Could be a battle for the #1 draft pick next year after all if they keep it up (and we keep it down). |
